Great stay overall, with a few downsides! 🏨
The hotel is in a fantastic location – super easy to get around, close to everything you might need, and a great base for exploring the area. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, which made the stay really comfortable.
One of the biggest surprises was the food – especially dinner! The variety and quality were much better than expected. Every night there was something different and tasty on the menu. Breakfast was also solid, but dinner really stood out.
Now, for the downsides: the walls are quite thin, so you can hear noise from neighboring rooms, and the room doors close really loudly, which can be annoying, especially in the mornings or late at night. That was the only thing that disrupted the otherwise peaceful vibe.
If you’re a light sleeper, maybe bring earplugs — but besides that, I’d definitely recommend this place. Good value, great location, clean rooms, and surprisingly good food! 👌

Location perfect. Hotel reception smelled lovely however the corridor to the rooms had a bad eggs smell.my room was next to the lift which was extremely noisy and sounded like furniture was being dragged around spoke to a female staff member who was extremely rude and unhelpful stating I would need to pay money to be given an alternative room and pointed out it was me who booked. Walls thin and could hear the next door neighbours talking. Wouldn't return or recommend staying here.

Hotel is on a nice location and food is not bad but the rooms are very bad with mouldy bathroom walls that are also cracked (room is very small also, definitely not the same as on the pictures) and front desk people (we asked for a room change and reception refused) are not the nicest especially some woman I think her name was Mery she should look for none hospitality work because she is not hospitable to be working the front desk. The entire room was dusty also including the bathroom and floor looked like it had not been cleaned. We stayed in other hotels in Alicante and we wished we had not changed hotel. It was definitely too expensive for such a bad service and rooms

The good: very friendly reception, nice breakfast options although bread choice should be larger, very clean and the location is superb. The less good: outdated rooms, only 2 small elevators (need to wait longer than ideally) and beds are just too hard... 3.5 stars, not 4

We had high expectations for Hotel Gran Sol given the Melia brand, but our stay completely destroyed our respect for the chain. The rooms are old and worn out, with outdated furniture and a shabby atmosphere. The bathrooms are in terrible condition, dirty, old toilets that make you question hygiene standards.
Worst of all, the air conditioning smells like onions and sewage. We were moved to another room, but in the evening the exact same stench returned. The odor made it impossible to relax or sleep properly.
We paid €324 for 2 nights and received a miserable experience in return. This hotel is in no way close to a true 4-star standard. It feels neglected, poorly maintained, and overpriced. Lost all our trust in the Melia group.
Save your money and avoid this place, there are far better options in Alicante.
