Stay away from this hotel unless you have absolutely no other option. The so-called 5-star rating is misleading — an African 5★ is nowhere near a Western 5★ standard.
Rooms:
The standard rooms are poorly maintained, and we even found cockroaches in the bathroom at night. You’ll also be charged a city tax at check-in, which ends up being higher because of the hotel’s inflated 5★ status.
Food & Facilities:
The food is just average and becomes repetitive after a couple of days. Guests often “reserve” tables and pool chairs by leaving books or cigarette packs, which makes finding a spot annoying. The lobby and outdoor areas are kept clean, but rooms only get fresh towels daily unless you specifically ask for a full clean.
Better Alternatives:
You’re genuinely better off booking a 3-star hotel with higher reviews — it’ll likely be cleaner and more comfortable. If you do stay here, try asking for an upgrade. The Iberostar Selection nearby is a better option if you can stretch your budget a bit.
Tips:
Tunisia’s 5★ hotels don’t match European standards, so always check reviews before booking. Go explore local areas like Sousse town centre for a more authentic and affordable experience — prices there are much better than in the touristy resort zones.

For the price you pay at this hotel its so worth the money. All the staff are so friendly like the cleaners, entertainment staff and the people at front desk. The entrance is very modern but the rooms are old fashioned but still nice. They had ok food it was bit basic but was nice and the pool was amazing. Definitely recommend as for it being cheap and worth the money.

A Lovely Stay at El Mouradi Palace (Tunisian Five-Star Experience)
We stayed at the El Mouradi Palace in Tunisia, and overall it’s been a really lovely experience. The staff are truly five-star — most of them are incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. A few can be a bit abrupt at times, but generally everyone went above and beyond to make our stay special.
The hotel itself, while rated five stars, isn’t quite what you’d expect from a luxury five-star resort elsewhere — it’s more of a “Tunisian five-star”, so keep that in mind if you’re used to European standards. That said, the beach is beautiful, and the pool area is great (though getting a sun lounger can be a bit of a battle, especially by the beach — you’ll need to be up early to secure one).
The food is okay — there’s a wide selection and plenty of Tunisian options, but as someone from England, it’s not quite what I’m used to. The à la carte Italian restaurant was lovely though — definitely recommend booking it early, as spots fill up fast.
One thing I really want to highlight is how far a tip goes here. If you tip the bar staff, they’ll treat you extra well. Tip the servers, and they’ll happily reserve you a table in the buffet restaurant. And tipping the maids makes a huge difference — they’ll decorate your room beautifully with flowers, change your sheets, and make everything feel extra special.
For activities, I highly recommend the Pirate Boat excursion — it was such a fun day out. However, I wouldn’t recommend the camel rides. Although the experience itself was interesting, it was upsetting to see how the camels were treated, so I wouldn’t want to support that again.
Overall, El Mouradi Palace has been a warm and welcoming stay, made special by the people more than anything. The staff even upgraded us for free to a nicer room since it was our first time in Tunisia, which was such a kind gesture. Even outside the hotel, the locals are so friendly and polite.
If you come with the right expectations — knowing this is a Tunisian five-star, not a European one — you’ll have a really lovely, memorable holiday.

I will give the honest review that you need to read, since i been reading all the comments for the last 15 days before coming to this hotel. So basically i had very low expectations by default about rooms to not be disappointed, we arrived at 22:00 on our first day, asked for a sea view and renovated room, the receptionist said that those requests requires extra fees when booking (which is 100% true) told us since we tired and stuff to take the room he gave us and in the next day when residents do their check out he promised for a better room, we went to our room and it was just depressed, old, bad lighting, very bad smell (of oldness) with a view on nothing, we just slept, went the other day to receptionist and as promised he gave us a much better room, fresh, bright, vivid with a calm view on city and sea….Kudos to the receptionist he didn’t disappoint.
Other then that, food is nice

As said i had very bad expectations towards rooms, we were disappointed by our first night then everything changed thanks to reception guy he did his best, i was going to put a 1* but as said the gesture saved our whole trip.
And dont mind the tooo negative comments the hotel great IF YOU GET A GOOD ROOM, the only bad point is its 5* stars ranking since it doesnt match the standards of a real 5* Hotel

Let's start with good stuff
Good atmosphere, dining is reasonable, service staff is excellent, room cleaning services very good, swimming pool and activities around is very good too, beach really walking distance from the hotel and it's an excellent one, walk to the beach to see sunrise in the morning is must, overall had a fantastic time.
Let's talk about the room.
Photos of the rooms are excellent when you are booking, unless your room is in the main building as reception then they are good, they have side wing as well and they are like CHEAP MOTEL ROOM, when I checked in to room Air-conditioning wasn't working, light bulb in the hall not working, fridge not working, TV not working, plug was taken out, remote control no were to seen , safe only two lines were working, it took 6 compliments to change the light bulb. And rest of the stuff was as it is as it was. The got a working but I had to wake up middle of the night to switch it off.
I won't call this a 5 star establishment, as other facilities were good so i didn't change my hotel.
I would give this place a 3 star.
