Lovely location on the beach in Portimao. Stairs down from the hotel onto the beach, these are locked at night & key access. Breakfast selection is good. We booked a sea view room & very happy with it. Beautiful tile floors, and wooden furniture. Not modern but in fairness we don't spend much time in the room anyway. Views are fantastic. Loads of restaurants outside the door as well as the hotel restaurants to choose from. Check in is at 15:00 and they will look after your luggage. Parking is around the corner in a parking station but free of charge.

Five stars? Not even close — it’s more like three at best.
The hotel is located in a great area, offering a casino, spa, children’s play area, a large pool zone, and direct access to the beach — and yes, the staff are indeed very friendly and professional.
However, that’s about all the praise it deserves. Although promoted as a five-star hotel, it has definitely lost at least two stars. The rooms are spacious and clean, but outdated and in serious need of renovation, reflecting a general sense of decline. In our room, the curtains were hanging loose and did not provide proper blackout coverage. The other two windows had wooden blinds that didn’t close properly either.
Breakfast is served in a large hall, but most of the food is industrially prepared, with plenty of variety but little freshness — the only genuinely fresh items were the fruits and fruit salad. In one section of the dining room, there were visible water stains and damage, seemingly from a past air-conditioning leak or flooding.
We had dinner there one evening; the dishes were tasty, well-presented, and overall a pleasant experience. However, the bar service was a disaster — it was impossible to get served unless you went up and called for the bartender yourself. When he finally came, he complained about being overworked and said he couldn’t do anything about it. Extremely rude and unprofessional — a real shame for a hotel that aims for a luxury standard.

Stunning location! Booked this for our honeymoon- what a wonderful experience. They upgraded our room to a suite without even asking :)
The hotel has a private beach (I think they charge a few euros for towels and such at the beach but our balcony view was so good that we didn’t really use the umbrellas over at the beach). The pool area is really good - the clientele is slightly older, which was great for us because we were looking for a a quiet, chill afternoon by the pool.
Breakfast buffet is pretty good - try to go early though, there’s a queue around 9. We also tried some food at the sunset bar and it was fresh and well prepared.
The rooms are a steal compared to most others in the area for the amenities provided.

Firstly I want to talk about the service and the location. Both absolutely incredible! I want to give a huge shout out to Luis Alves, such a warm and friendly man who brought our drinks, asked how our day had been and seemed to really care what people had been up to, loved his humour and he even made me English tea with milk! The location, well the pictures say it all, absolutely stunnning and could not wish for a better location. My biggest issue was the rooms, once I would say they stunning, now they seem a little tired and in need of renovation. Plus sockets coming out the wall, showerheads that were broken, damaged floor tiles. None of which would ruin a holiday but at the same time you cant say 5 stars with damaged plug sockets. In short, location is beyond beautiful, staff and service were incredible but the rooms just need a little TLC.

it’s been almost five years since we come here every August and it’s always very pleasant!! the staff is very kind to us and caters to lots of needs (like having to clean our room earlier due to personal reasons), the rooms are great, the location is 10/10, everything is genuinely great value!
the only thing I would add is that even though the breakfast has plenty of options and all very good, there is always line for the pancake machine which blocks the pathways to take other foods and, it also doesn’t give a chance to other people to try the pancakes since the line is huge everytime. I would consider buying another machine of pancakes and make it more spacious in general, like as they have the coffee machines. hopefully next year when we are back again at this lovely hotel the breakfast conditions will have some changes.
overall I would definitely consider this hotel as your Portimão Gateway 💖 Thank you for the amazing time as usual.
